Disturbing the termites can make them more difficult to control.
All our termite treatments are carried out according to Australian Standards 3660.2-2017, which provides you will the confidence you are receiving professional termite services.
A professional termite treatment process follows 4 key steps:
Hindmarsh Pest Control do not provide quotes over the phone.
A good termite professional needs to carry out an assessment on-site to understand the nature of the problem and construction type to make sure they make the correct recommendation.
Hindmarsh Pest Control do not charge for this on-site assessment.
Note: This on-site assessment provides the information required for a termite treatment proposal and is not the same as a formal termite inspection which provides a detailed report and is a paid service.
The termite treatment proposal will contain details on the treatment process to eliminate termites and the recommended termite management system to provide the long-term protection of your home.
In developing a termite treatment proposal, we take into account: the findings from the on-site assessment, the nature of the building construction, environment considerations, any personal preferences you may have and budget considerations.
The treatment proposal is an important document, not just a quote. It includes:
Although the proposal is a written document, we will take time to discuss it with you in person.
In most situations, Hindmarsh Pest Control would recommend a termite baiting system, as they work continuously to eliminate termite nests around your property, reducing the termite pressure on your home.
If a formal termite inspection has not been carried out, this will be included as part of the treatment proposal and carried out before starting the treatment.
This is important to make sure the nature of the infestation is full mapped out and provided in a written report. This also allows for the treatment proposal to be modified if new information comes to hand.
Even though it may be obvious you have termites, a comprehensive termite inspection is required to fully understand the nature and scale of the termite attack, to ensure the best treatment method is recommended.
The termite inspection will:
There are two parts to a termite treatment:
With termite baiting systems the treatment to eliminate the active termites and the installation of a termite baiting system around the building occur at the same time. If a liquid soil treatment is being installed as the long term protection, the elimination of termites from inside the building needs to be confirmed before treating the soil around the building.
The first step in any termite treatment is to try and locate and eliminate the nest. If a nest is located we will treated it or physically destroy it (if possible).
However, since nests are often located underground and are well hidden, and could be up to 100 m from the building, it can be very difficult! And even if a nest is located, there is no way of knowing that it is the nest that is attacking your home.
However, the key objective is to eliminate active termites from the building.
Hindmarsh Pest Control use termite baits, which not only eliminate active termites from the building by will also kill the nest the nest attacking your home. Learn more about termite baiting…
Eliminating termites from inside the property and killing the colony normally takes several months.
There are two options for termite management systems to provide the long termite protection:
Generally we recommend the use of termite monitoring and baiting systems for protecting structures for 5 reasons:
At Hindmarsh Pest Control we use the latest termite monitoring and baiting system – Sentricon AlwaysActive. For more information on AlwaysActive and baiting go to our termite baiting page.
Sometimes, either due to site requirements or customer preference, we will install a liquid termite treatment into the soil around and under the property. In such situations we use Altriset termiticide due to its excellent safety profile. It’s unique mode of action means it only impacts a few species of insect (including termites)… it doesn’t even effect honeybees. This makes it ideal to use around homes, especially where there may be concerns with children and pets. However, we need to wait until the termites have been eliminated from the house before treating the soil around the building.
IMPORTANT NOTE: Termite managements systems (baiting systems and soil treatments) are designed to prevent the concealed termite entry. Although unlikely, termites can still get into your home, but they would have to choose a route that is visible. This is one of the key reasons why even with a termite management system in place it is important to have annual termite inspections. (Also important to maintain any warranty).
